My family relocated to San Antonio in 1964. I later attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and was graduated with a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1980. After college I went to work with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in the Wildlife division. I was assigned to the South Texas region and had the privilege of working and traveling throughout the 32-county region trapping and transplanting indigenous species, doing yearly census of deer, turkey, and doves as well as other assigned special projects. Additionally, I had the good fortune to see some of the most beautiful South Texas ranches and unique habitats. I had the time of my life!
I later married and settled into working in a civil district court, where there was rarely an opportunity to be startled by a rattlesnake or walk up on a herd of feral hogs; although the courtroom environment did have some similarities.
I earned a real estate licensed in 2001, and soon joined my RE/MAX family. I obtained my broker's license in 2004, and in 2006, I purchased a RE/MAX franchise and opened a new boutique brokerage in Garden Ridge, a bedroom community of San Antonio. Quickly, I realized that my joy was in helping and educating my clients with the purchase or sale of real estate, not owning and operating an office. I sold the brokerage and passed the baton to one of my agents. To this day I continue to market properties for sale and assists buyers with purchasing homes, condos or investment properties.
I have received many RE/MAX awards but I am most proud of receiving the "Hall of Fame" award.
When I come home from a busy day and see the wagging tails of my Chihuahuas, everything is right in the world. To relax I find a good book and the pups and settle in.
“I cannot imagine that anyone, anywhere, is doing this job better than Sue. I recommend that anyone reading this do whatever you can to get her as your real estate agent. As first-time home buyers in a hot market, my wife and I really needed someone who we could trust to take care of us and help us to understand more about the process. From day one Sue made us feel as if we’d been long-time friends and exuded a sense of confident control, which we came to see was very well founded because she is exceptionally knowledgeable and does this job with effortless excellence. So, feeling “taken-care-of” was immediately established and only grew stronger as the process went on. As an assistant principal I would happily offer Sue a job teaching (although she clearly has found her calling) based solely on this home buying experience. I went in knowing nothing but throughout the process Sue helped us to learn everything we needed to know. Not only would she advise and guide us through the process, but she would always check to make sure that we understood everything, including why she was offering that advice. We knew so little about the process of home-buying that we couldn’t even clearly explain what we were looking for but after a little getting to know us and a lot of searching out houses to get our opinions on, she was able to provide listings that consistently caught our interest. Then came all of her guidance through the process of which homes to put in an offer on (including guidance through that process as well of course), which to pass on, and why. All of her guidance resulted in us confidently purchasing our first home which we are exceedingly happy with! And the icing…like any good professional that also happens to be an excellent person Sue is connected to so many other good and friendly professionals who, just like Sue, are great at working with you towards your best interest (she connected us to our lender, inspector, and several other people that we will continue to do business with). One would have to be a complete fool to not work with Sue as his agent…don’t be a fool.”

Sue Johnson is, quite simply, as good as it gets, and I wholeheartedly recommend her for your real estate needs. As a previous reviewer commented, I cannot imagine that anyone is better in this line of work than Sue.
From the very beginning, Sue went far above and beyond to help my spouse and I find the perfect new home. She took incredible initiative from the get-go, driving around the city to preview dozens of homes while we were still out of town, saving us unnecessary trips to SA with a young baby in tow. She seemed to have an acute sense of what we needed in a home (even before we did!), showing us only the very best options for our needs. For us, Sue had the ability to actually make buying a home a positive, almost (dare I say) fun process. For this, I credit her confidence, genuine passion for her work, her ability to logically talk us through options and choices, and her incredibly high level of expertise in her field. She also possessed the uncanny ability to shield us from the day-to-day stress of buying a home, absorbing and addressing challenges herself, and then letting us know after the fact that something had transpired and already been resolved. To me, this is the sign of a true professional at the top of her game.
Beyond her high level of expertise, Sue immediately took us and our family under her wing, providing a sense of safe haven and refuge in an often crazy real estate world. She was truly ‘there’ for us, whether that was a lunch to talk out options, a quick text message to check in, or a late-night confidence-boosting phone call in the midst of the transaction. During what was a very hectic time in our lives, the purchase of our new home was a positive experience and we are grateful every day that we placed our trust in her (and vice versa!) to help us find the perfect new place to call home.
Sue is enormously well-connected in San Antonio, having lived here for several decades, and was able to provide us with referrals for not only home improvement projects (all of whom were a pleasure to work with), but a local church, restaurants, and other fun places to visit with our little one. I should mention that Sue also helped my in-laws, also new in town, purchase a lovely home that they are exceedingly happy with.
But the biggest bonus of working with Sue? We now have a lifelong forever-friend in our lives! We keep up with each other almost weekly and we still feel like we’ve known each other for ages. In fact, without hesitation we invited her to our son’s first birthday party just a few days after closing. Does it get any better than that? Do yourself a favor and call Sue.

“Without a doubt, hands down the best experience we could have for our home purchase. Sue A. Johnson was the absolute best to work with again. Sue was professional, accessible, knowledgeable, and just a pleasure to have as part of our ‘family’ during the home-buying experience. AMAZING!! Sue A. Johnson is the epitome of excellence in all areas! I would recommend her to anyone looking for a broker and real state expert in the San Antonio area.”
